In the last twenty years new polymeric materials have been created whose physico-mechanical properties and heat resistance are so good that they can be used as a replacements of metals, also in a number of applications where metals were exclusively used. These polymeric materials are called engineering polymers.
The most used and well known engineering polymers are:
