Nylfor A ® (PA6.6)

Polyamide 6.6 Compound
Nylfor A® is an aliphatic polyamide 66 obtained through the polymerisation of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. The chain chemical structure ensures a high impact resistance and excellent mechanical properties of the material.
The hygroscopic sensitivity of polyamide 66, although it is 1% lower than polyamide 6 sensitivity, can significantly affect its properties.
The Nylfor A® product family features a wide range of materials, such as fiberglass reinforced, elastomer modified, heat-stabilised, mineral filled and flame-retarded (UL94-V0).
Taylor-made formulations can also be developed to meet specific market needs.
Nylfor A® Is available in many viscosity grades and in a wide range of colours.

Nylfor A® main features are:

  • Excellent mechanical properties (modulus and load).
  • High impact resistance
  • Excellent resistance to organic solvents
  • High wear and fatigue resistance even at high temperatures
  • Easy processability and moulding

Polyammide 66 is a highly hygroscopic material therefore it is necessary a drying phase before processing.

Nylfor A® can be co-moulded with some special grades of the Laprene® range (SEBS-based thermoplastic elastomer).
The Nylfor A® range comprises grades for injection moulding only.
The following temperature settings are advisable when processing standard materials:
  • Processing temperature: 270-310°C
  • Mould temperature 60-80°C
  • Drying: 4h@90°C
Nylfor® is a fully recyclable material and it can be reused after regrinding. The user shall always verify that the compound obtained by mixing virgin and reground material is suitable for the specific application and that its properties meet the requirements.
This product should be stored in a covered facility and kept away from moisture and heat.
