Stirofor ® (HI-PS)

High-impact Polystyrene Compound
Stirofor® is the trade name of the High-Impact Polystyrene (HI-PS) compounds manufactured by SO.F.TER. The range also includes also flame-retarded materials (UL 94 V2 and V0). Stirofor® is available in a wide choice of colours.

The main characteristics of the Stirofor® range are:

  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Excellent aesthetical properties
  • Good impact resistance
  • Processing ease

Special grades featuring the following specifications are also available:

  • flame resistance (UL 94-V0)
  • additional protection against heat and UV ageing
  • protection against copper
  • low fogging value
  • low friction coefficient
  • high abrasion resistance
  • RAL-GZ 716/1 approval, Class IV (building industry)

Stirofor® is a resin for injection moulding. Some extrusion grades are also available.

The following temperature settings are recommended when processing standard materials:
  • Cylinder temperature 160-190°C
  • Mould temperature 30-50°C
  • Drying 2h@60°C
Stirofor® is a fully recyclable material and can be reused after regrinding. The user shall always verify that the compound obtained by mixing virgin and reground material is suitable for the specific application and that its properties meet the requirements.
This product should be stored in a covered facility and kept away from moisture and heat.
